The route is located on Mt. Gidiki, which is a part of the western foothills of Mt. Kissavos (Ossa), east / northeast of Larisa. We meet at the south end of Gidiki, in front of the climbing site’s “Fithofolia” sector (Relevant sign), where you gear up and are introduced to the use of the safety equipment by your guides. Then, we are transferred (5’ by road) to where we start the approach walk to the Via Cordata / Ferrata.

A beautiful ridge walk / ascent of about 45’, with stunning views, takes us to the starting point of our Via Cordata / Ferrata route, which unfolds in a horizontal line with various ups and downs across the rock face. It consists mainly of interesting sections of scrambling traversing and sections of narrow ledge exposed walking on vertical limestone rock. The very first sections are a typical Via Cordata with the protection of fixed ropes, while the scrambling passages and the exposed sections are protected with cable, thus making the route a very interesting combination of Via Cordata and Via Ferrata, resulting to extra safety, ease and of course great enjoyment. The views of the nearby Mt. Kissavos to the east and to the east / southeast end of the Thessalian plain all the way down to Mt. Pelion, are just great. At the end of the route and upon exiting to the upper parts of Gidiki, we enjoy great views towards the north and the dominating Mt. Olympus. From here, a 15’ walk, takes us to the main summit of Mt. Gidiki, with wonderful view all around. Mt. Olympus massive to the north, Mt. Kissavos to the east, Pindus range with Agrafa mountains to the western end of the Thessalian plain and the big mountains of the south parts of central Greece, like Mt. Giona, Mt. Vardusia and Mt. Velouchi. Central Greece before our feet…

After a light meal at the top, we make our way back down to the very starting point and our vehicles (30’ – 40’ minutes).

Duration of the Via Ferrata / Cordata route, 40’ to 45’ and with the approach and return walks something like 2.45’ to 3.00’ hours.

Overall duration of the activity, including the gearing up and introduction to the safety equipment’s use, stops, photos ect, 3.30’ to 4.00’ hours.

Then, we are transferred (5’ by road) to the starting point of our hiking & Via Cordata route.

A very interesting ridge walk / ascent of about 25’, with stunning views, takes us to the starting point of our Via Cordata route, which unfolds along the scrambling rocky part of the ridge as a natural continuation of the ridge route we are on.

It is a very typical ridge crossing, with constant protection on fixed ropes, thus making it a very interesting Via Cordata route, resulting to extra safety, ease and of course great enjoyment, mainly aimed for families with young children from 9 to 12 years. The views of the nearby Mt. Kissavos to the east and the east / southeast end of the Thessalian plain all the way down to Mt. Pelion, are just great. At the end of the route and upon exiting to the upper parts of the ridge, we have the choice to continue our hike to the very top of the Gidiki massif – another 20’ ridge walk – or return back by path to the starting point after about 20’ of downhill walk.
If we make the choice to continue to the very top, the way back down to the starting point and our vehicles, will take 30’ to 40’.

Duration of the Via Cordata route, about 1.00’ hours and with the approach and return walks, something like 2.00’ to 2.30’ hours. With the ascent to the main top, 2.30’ to 3.00’ hours.

We meet at the Arioprino location if you come from the north or in Spilia village if you come from the south. The route is located on the northern parts of Mt. Kissavos (Ossa). After we have met, we are transferred to the actual location (10’ by road), where you gear up and are introduced by the guides to the use of the safety equipment. A short walk (10 minutes) takes us to the starting point of the route.

Description of route: Length of route, 290m. The route unfolds in a horizontal line with various ups and downs across the rock face. It consists mainly of interesting sections of scrambling traversing and sections of actual traversing on vertical grey limestone rock. The scrambling sections are a typical Via Cordata with the protection of fixed ropes, while the vertical, more demanding sections are protected with cable, thus making the route a very interesting combination of Via Cordata and Via Ferrata, resulting to extra safety, ease and of course great enjoyment. The views of the gorge below us, of Mt. Olympus in the north and of the summit of Mt. Kissavos in the south are just great. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the top / finishing point with amazing views all over, before taking the trail back to the very starting point and our vehicles (15 minutes). Duration of the Via Ferrata / Cordata route, 2.00’ to 3.00’ hours.

Total duration of the activity, 3.30’ to 4.30’ hours.

Meet in Kastraki, at the village’s square.  A short walk leads us to the “Great Saint” tower area where we gear up for the Via Cordata experience. This is a scramble through the huge sandstone Meteora towers, then an exposed walk along a very old path, carved by the monks on the rock, followed by a small abseil and again an amazing Via Cordata way to reach a beyond words eagle’s viewpoint, high above the town of Kalambaka! At this unique spot you enjoy a cup of hot herbal tea and cookies your guids have brought here for you. We return by the same way for a well-earned picnic lunch.

We meet at the west end of Tempi valley. After we have met, we are transferred by dirt road (20’) to the starting point of the Via Cordata above the valley. Here we gear up and your guides introduce you to the basics of safety and use of equipment. The feeling is unique as you make this high traverse across the cliffs enjoying views beyond words! Duration of the actual Via Cordata route, 1.00’ hour.

At the end of the traverse we descend through a ravine and after a series of 3 small abseils particularly enjoyable by the younger ones, we reach the main classic path which leads us back to the route’s starting point and our vehicle. This will take another 1.20’ hours. Here we enjoy a picnic lunch with great views, before we are transferred by road back down to our meeting point and your vehicles.

The total duration of the activity, from the meeting time to the “ready to return home” time, is 4.30’ hours. Minimum age 9 to 10 years.

We meet at the west end of the Tempi valley. The ridge is located at the north cliff side of the valley, geologically considered to be on Lower Olympus. After we have met, we are transferred to the starting point of the walk in (10’ by road). The walk-in follows the old railway line alongside the river Pinios, with great views all along the hike. Duration of walk-in, 15 – 20’, easy.

Description of route. Start at 20m above sea level – Finish at 240m. Gained altitude 220m. Length of route, 290m. The route consists mainly of long sections of narrow ridge scrambling and shorter sections and “steps” of actual climbing of III+ to IV- grade on grey limestone rock. The ridge scrambling is a typical Via Cordata with the protection of fixed ropes, while the climbing sections are also protected with cable, thus making the route a very interesting combination of Via Cordata and Via Ferrata, resulting to extra safety, ease and of course great enjoyment. The views of the gorge with the river far down below are just breathtaking. Duration of the Via Ferrata / Cordata route, 3.00’ to 4.00’ hours.

Enjoy some time on top of the ridge before taking the return hiking trail back to the starting point (0.50’ to 1.00’ hours).

Total duration of the activity, 4.20’ to 5.20’ hours.
