Route description: We meet at the “Botanic Garden”, at the western shores of the lake, in the shadow of the north-east Agrafa summits.

Our sea kayaking wondering begins at the above mentioned meeting point and progresses on a south course, in literally magical environment, along green and immensely forested shore. Oak and fir trees, along with the sharp alpine Agrafa summits – snow caped until late spring – dominate the area, offering dramatic views. Along the ride, we explore narrow fjords, stop for picnic at tiny lake islands and we endlessly soak the beauty and tranquility this wonderful place abundantly offers.

The kayaks give us a nice sensation of autonomy and versatility. They are quite speedy too…we want to go every possible corner! We return – hard decision – filled with pictures, colors and emotions to the starting point for the return home.

Note that the activity can be done in two-seater seat-on-top canoes. Sea kayaks though, give a greater autonomy as they have luggage nets and compartments, greater speed with less effort, thus, greater distances covered and more places to explore in the lake for the same given time. Duration of route in the kayaks 2.30′ to 3.00′ hours of relaxed paddling.

Note that the overall duration of the route, from our meeting to the “ready to go home” time, ranges between 5.00’ and 5.30’ hours.

Our meeting for this route takes place at Stomion. Our sea Kayaking journey can start from Stomion to K. Nero or vice verse, depending sometimes up on the wind direction and condition. The main characteristic element of this sea kayaking route is its mild natural beauty and sense of relaxation. The eastern slopes of Mt. Kissavos, green and deeply forested, rise above us quite impressively, with small isolated beaches which like Homeric sirens call us to stop and jump in the water! The rocky coast sections, alternatively give way to all these beautiful beaches along the coast. At about half way, we stop at one of them for drinks and picnic, as well as swimming and snorkeling. Duration of paddling, 2.00’ to 2.30’ hours.

Route description: We meet at the riverside village of Paleopyrgos, in Pinios river delta (more specifically at the river’s bridge just outside the village). That’s where we start our sea kayaking journey.

Rich vegetation and bird-life accompany us to the mouth of the river and the Aegean Sea, where we arrive after about 1,30’ hours of relaxed paddling. During the summer months, this part of the river is supplied almost entirely with the waters of the Tempi valley’s springs, giving a clear magnificent green / blue water flow! The location where the river meets the sea is of unique natural beauty and interest. Here, we stop for drinks and cookies, as the place itself calls us to get out of our vessels. One cannot easily resist a swim in the sea or the river, especially during the warm months. After we have enjoyed the most of what this special place can offer, we continue our sea kayaking journey in the sea, along an endless isolated sandy beach, with a panoramic view of Mt. Kissavos, Tempi valley and Mt. Olympus all along! We reach the little seaside village of Alexandrini after 1.30’ hours of paddling, where a nice picnic is waiting for us at the beach.

We meet in Veneto, a picturesque small village nestling in the very north east Mt. Pelion, quite isolated and drowned in greenery at 250m. A 15′ drive down the road to the coast, brings us to the small cove Koutsoubos, the starting point for our Sea-Kayaking wandering.

Our aim is the exploration of the impressive sea-caves of Veneto, located along a very beautiful coastline indeed, about 30 in number in a sequence of about 2 nautical miles. Caves of various size, rock color and formation, unroll before us along the rocky coast, inviting us to explore them. Some are big enough just for the kayak to pass through and some are as high as 35m! The entrance to most of them is only possible by the sea kayaks and the possibility of exploring them lies entirely upon this kind of vessel. That’s why while you are there, you have the feeling of being a pioneer.

This unspoiled terrain of amazing rocky formations, isolated white pebbled tiny beaches squeezed between the rocks and the crystal clear waters, leave us literally breathless!

At the end of this cave world and after about 2 hours of sea cave exploration and relaxed paddling, we reach the small cove / shelter of Limnionas, where the homonymus beach. If Limnionas cove is not the nicest you have seen in your life, it is certainly going to be one of the very few nicest ones! Here we enjoy hot or cold drinks and cookies, as well as swimming and snorkeling! It feels hard to leave Limnionas, but it has to be done for the return. 30’ to 40’ of relaxed paddling brings us back to Koutsoubos cove where the activity ends with a nice and well earned picnic.
