We meet at the west end of the Tempi valley. The “Apollo ridge” is located at the north cliff side of the valley, geologically considered to be on Lower Olympus. After we have met, we are transferred to the starting point of the walk-in (10’ by road). The walk-in follows the old railway line alongside the river Pinios, with great views all along the hike. Duration of walk-in, 15 – 20’, easy.

Description of route. Start at 20m above sea level – Finish at 240m. Gained altitude 220m. Length of route, 290m. The route consists mainly of long sections of narrow ridge scrambling and shorter sections and “steps” of actual climbing of III+ to IV- grade on grey limestone rock.

The ridge scrambling is a typical Via Cordata with the protection of fixed ropes, while the climbing sections are also protected with cable, thus making the route a very interesting combination of Via Cordata and Via Ferrata, resulting to extra safety, ease and of course great enjoyment. The views of the gorge with the river far down below are just breathtaking. Duration of the Via Cordata / Ferrata route, 3.00’ to 4.00’ hours.

Enjoy some time on top of the ridge enjoying the unique moment! Then, a 10’ walk takes us to the climbing site for the rock climbing session and to a light picnic lunch. After all it is a “rock-day” today! Here, on an impressive limestone rock face, we have created a top-rope climbing playground with routes of various grade, for youths and adults to enjoy, about 20m high. This is a unique spot with great views lower down towards the river Pinios and the western part of the Tempi valley. The climbing takes about 3.00’ hours and if there is time you can have more! Transfer back to our meeting point and your vehicle.

The total duration of the activity, from the meeting time to the “ready to return home” time, is 7.00’ to 7.30’ hours.

We meet at the west end of Tempi valley. After we have met, we are transferred to the starting point of the walk in (10’ by road), the same as for the Apollo Ridge, at 20m. We take the so called “clefts’ path” – an escape way full of legends and stories – quite steeply for the first 20’ and easier for the rest of the length, until we reach the starting point of the via Cordata traverse at about 270m. Stunning views of the western end of the valley and the river Pinios down below! This will take 1.00’ to 1.10’ hours of moderate / challenging walk. Gained altitude 250m.

At the starting point of the Via Cordata, we gear up and your guide /s introduce you to the basics of safety and use of equipment. The feeling is unique as you make this high traverse across the cliffs enjoying views beyond words! Duration of the Via Cordata route, 1.00’ hour.

At the end of the traverse we descend through a ravine and after a series of 3 small abseils particularly enjoyable by the younger ones, we reach the main classic path – after 1.00’ hour’s descent – to continue with the classic Tempi valley crossing route, all the way to the east-end of the valley, finishing at a picturesque chapel where the picnic is waiting for us, at about 100m.

We have completed the full Tempi valley high crossing in a very special way, enriching this wonderful hike with the Clefts’ traverse! This will take another 1.45’ hours of easy but very nice hike. Altitude loss, 150m.

Meteora! A nature’s wonder at the western end of the Thessalian plain! A religion’s stronghold as well as a rock climbers’ paradise! Tradition, Byzantine architecture, theocracy and solitarily as well as a unique geological phenomenon and great rock climbing attraction internationally. All in one place!

Meet at the square of Kastraki village.

During a very nice walk through the conglomerate sandstone towers, you will admire nature’s and man’s creations. The path takes us to very impressive spots with little chapels carved in the rock and to amazing viewpoints!

After the completion of the actual hiking route, we continue on foot to the Great Saint area where we gear up for the Via Cordata experience. This is a scramble through the huge sandstone Meteora rocks and exposed walk on a very old path, carved in the rock, to reach a beyond words eagle’s viewpoint, high above the town of Kalambaka! Then an abseil takes us down to the return path. In between the two activities, we will have a picnic lunch. Altitude covered, 200m up and the same down. Approximate net walking time 2.30’ hours easy / moderate and Via Cordata time, another 2.30’ hours.

As another option, the hiking can be combined with rock climbing instead of the Via Cordata, for the ones who would like to have a taste of top rope climbing on this peculiar conglomerate sandstone rock! We meet at Arioprino location. An early start brings us to a rock face on northern Kissavos with great views down towards the sea, some 700m lower, where you are about to try, probably your first vertical steps. This is a great combination of physical and mental effort. The right body placement along with focused concentration on to the next move, will give unexpected great results, under the instruction and supervision of our guides. After a pleasant break for a light picnic meal at a close by café / restaurant in the forest, we move down to the river to prepare ourselves for a two-seater monorafting or inflatable kayaking ride in the Pinios river, along the Tempi valley and a part of the river’s delta.

Inflatable kayaking & monorafting: After the climbing and the picnic brake, transfer to the river below, to ride down the river and through the valley on the inflatables this time! A river wondering in an amaizing natural beauty!

First option, at Tempi valley, Lower Olympus (Best in late spring, June & September).

We meet at the Rapsani railway station. Transfer to the wine growing village of Rapsani on the slopes of Lower Olympus and the starting point of our walk, where a nearby impressive limestone rock face is inviting you to try, probably your first vertical steps. This is a unique spot with great views lower down towards the Pinios river and the western part of the Tempi valley. Climbing here, one experiences a great combination of physical and mental effort. After this amazing game in this vertical world ends, we get ready and set off for our hike, following a path, which takes us along and over the cliffs of the Tembi Valley and almost down the Pinios River. This is a high crossing of the valley with stunning views of the river down below and Mt. Kissavos on the opposite side of the valley, all the way along the hike. We will have a lot to talk about, while we hike along this historical valley, as the place holds amazing stories and myths from the very – very old times… The walk will take 2.30’ to 3.00’ hours, easy.

Second option for the same combined activity, aimed  for comleete first timers in climbing and younger ages, Mt. Kissavos (Ossa).

We meet at Karitsa Village or Arioprino location. Transfer to the Seloma location at about 1000m (about 20′ to 30′ by road from the meeting points), at a very beautiful spot with great views of the highest summit of the mountain and all the way round from the north west, north and north east. Here we do the rock climbing – a very nice site for old and young.

After that and a good break, we move by road to the Kanalos location at 1500m, dominated by the highest summit. From here, we start our hike to the summit via its east ridge, with stunning panoramic views of the region including the Aegean Sea, the Plain of Thessaly, Mount Olympus, Mount Pelion, the Pinios river delta and in clear weather – not very unlikely – the huge pyramid of Mt. Athos emerging out of the sea in the very distance to the east.  Return via the same route back to Kanalos. The route takes approximately 4.30’ to 5.30’ hours of moderate and demanding walk.

This is a very well balanced combination of hiking in an extremely beautiful terrain and canyoning in the second half of the Enipeas I section , involving the two wonderful abseils, as a very good opportunity for the ones / beginners or not who wish to have a non lengthy but full enough experience of canyoning!  

We meet at Litohoro and transfer by your means of transport to the Prionia location (30’ by asphalt road) and start our hike down the impressive Enipeas gorge. A technically easy but exceptionally beautiful 1.40’ hour hike takes us to the starting point of the canyoning section where we gear up for the canyoning. It is an amazingly beautiful place to hike along, drowned in greenery, with Enipeas stream running along with us. Our guides will introduce you to the very interesting and unique in many cases flora of Mt. Olympus!

We spend 2.00’ tο 3.30 hours in the canyon depending up on the size of the group. After the canyoning, we change back into our dry cloths and shoes (our guides have taken care to have them at the finishing point of the canyoning section). Then a 30’ walk takes us back to the 16^thcentury St. Dyonisious monastery, where we pay a visit and have a well earned picnic lunch. In our means of transport you are taken back (10’) to your vehicles in Prionia for the return.

Note that for the ones who wish, we can do the full crossing of the Enipeas gorge. In this case, after the canyoning we will have the picnic lunch there and continue the hike all the way down to Litohoro for another 3.30’ to 4.00 hours of easy to moderate walk.

We meet and start off the ride at the seaside village of Stomion, and an 8km very pleasant bike ride through the fields and side streams of the Pinios river delta, takes us to the main river and the starting point of our canoe ride.

Duration of cycling, 2.00′ hours.

Rich vegetation, tree-lined riverbanks and a great variety of wild life, will accompany us to the mouth of the river and the open Aegean sea. We end up at an isolated beach for a swim and a picnic barbecue.

Duration of paddling 2.30′ to 2.00′ hours. We can either go back to Stomio on the bikes or by road in our means of transport. Well, the choice is yours.
