We meet at the Arioprino location if you come from the north or in Spilia village if you come from the south. The route is located on the northern parts of Mt. Kissavos (Ossa). After we have met, we are transferred to the actual location (10’ by road), where you gear up and are introduced by the guides to the use of the safety equipment. A short walk (10 minutes) takes us to the starting point of the route.

Description of route: Length of route, 290m. The route unfolds in a horizontal line with various ups and downs across the rock face. It consists mainly of interesting sections of scrambling traversing and sections of actual traversing on vertical grey limestone rock. The scrambling sections are a typical Via Cordata with the protection of fixed ropes, while the vertical, more demanding sections are protected with cable, thus making the route a very interesting combination of Via Cordata and Via Ferrata, resulting to extra safety, ease and of course great enjoyment. The views of the gorge below us, of Mt. Olympus in the north and of the summit of Mt. Kissavos in the south are just great. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the top / finishing point with amazing views all over, before taking the trail back to the very starting point and our vehicles (15 minutes). Duration of the Via Ferrata / Cordata route, 2.00’ to 3.00’ hours.

Total duration of the activity, 3.30’ to 4.30’ hours.

We meet at Arioprino location. A mountain biking day on beautiful wooded routes over Mt. Kissavos, culminating in views of the Aegean sea, Halkidiki’s coast on the other side of Thermaikos gulf and even, in a very clear day, the pyramid of Mt. Athos in  the very distance to the east. 15 kilometers of relaxed biking, mainly on flat and downhill ground, will take us to the location were the amazing Kalypso canyon is. Here, we gear up for the canyoning and a 20’ walk brings us into the canyon and another 15’ to the great waterfall and pool. The words are not enough to describe the place.

We enjoy a hot drink and cookies at the spot as well as jumping in the pool below the great waterfall. Being there, you never feel that you want to leave the place, but we have to return to complete the descent.  After the beginners’ briefing, the fun begins with fly-foxing over the first large pool, abseiling and water sliding the next two waterfalls. We finish at where the bikes are waiting with the support vehicle. Change in to our dry clothes ato continue on our bikes to Karytsa.

We meet at the site, after our contact and the additional directions given. The site is situated close to Larisa (20’ by road) and to the E75 highway (Larisa diversion), thus, very easily accessible. It is an organized rock climbing site for the experienced climber.

The beginners’ training sector of the site is ideal for top-rope climbing and abseiling, offering a great choice of different routes from 10m to 18m and various rock games to the beginner. Being at low altitude the site is ideal for climbing even in the winter months. Rock climbing session 3.00 to 4.00 hours.

Minimum age 6 – 7 years.

This is a very nice limestone climbing site on Mt. Kissavos (Ossa) with various routes for the experienced rock climber. The first sections of some of these routes have been selected by us for the more keen beginners – most probably the ones who have tried it before on natural rock – to try and enjoy top-rope climbing of higher level and grade in a very beautiful natural setting with nice views.

Information for the experienced climber: This is a climbing area for experienced climbers. It is located in the central & north Kissavos not far from our base or the Village of Spilia, at the elevation of 800 / 900m. Both sites are located on the north east side of Mt. Kissavos (Ossa), close to our base. Their elevation ranges from 600m (Tzamia) to 1000m (Seloma). The sites are only for beginners, organized for top rope climbing. Length of routes, from 8 to 20m. We meet in the village of Omolio. This is a loop trek along the sides of the so called “great canyon” (Megas Lakos). We start the walk at almost sea level and move along the western side of the canyon up to where it narrows distinctively at 500m. Here, we pass over to the east side, stop for the picnic and a good rest and then continue the return walk, enjoying great views of the western side with its high rocky walls. It is a walking route which progresses, almost entirely, in a wild terrain with a strong sense of isolation, in spite of the fact that the canyon is close to the E 75 highway and the “civilization”… 5.00’ hours of Moderate / Demanding walk, with the stops.

We meet at Karytsa  or (Mt Kissavos  / Mt Olympus Outdoor Activities Center. “Where we meet”, “How you come”). From Karytsa we transfer in our means of transport to the Kalypso II canyon ( canyoning finishing point) A short walk up the side of the canyon takes us inside it (20′) and another 15′ up, inside the canyon, takes us to the great waterfall and pool. An amazing place indeed! A 75m waterfall in front of our own eyes leaves us speechless! After enjoying the place to the out-most taking photos jumping and swimming in the pool, having lunch hot drinks and cookies, we return to our vehicle for the transfer back to Karytsa.

Over all walking time 1.30′ hours moderate to demanding.

For any of these routes, we meet at our base (“Mt. Kissavos / Mt. Olympus Outdoor Activities Center”) or at the Arioprino location. Three main, long paths start at almost sea level, two from Stomion and one from Karytsa. They climb up the north east slopes of the mountain, through dense forest for the first 2/3^rds of their length and through alpine terrain for their last 1/3^rd to the summit (1978m). Huge birch and oak trees as well as fir trees dominate this amazingly rich forest, with all kinds of herbs and mushrooms, and lots of running water especially in spring, form the picture of this magnificent side of the mountain and its walks.

The full ascent from the very start to the summit, takes 5.00’ to 7.00’ hours of moderate walk at 55.00 Euros p.p.

It is possible to cut down the length of the routes if you wish, by starting your walk at a higher point or make circular routes covering special spots, starting at 35.00 Euros p.p. We can make our proposals according to your requirments.
